Blood Donation Center - Dubai Health
About Blood Donation Center
Since 1986, the Blood Donation Center has been Dubai's primary blood donation center, ensuring a safe and ample blood supply for various medical needs, from life-saving transfusions for accident victims and those undergoing complicated surgeries and restoring strength to those fighting cancer.
Through the support of our donors, we contribute approximately 50% of the nation's blood units. Accredited by AABB since 2012, we prioritize donor and patient safety, maintaining service excellence.
Join us in donating blood at our center or through our mobile campaigns.
We recommend refraining from vigorous physical activity before and after blood donating. Opt for gentle activities such as walking– just remember to stay hydrated.
We advise that you eat and drink regularly before giving blood to keep your blood sugar levels stable. You should also have a snack and drink water immediately after giving blood.
You should have a valid emirates ID or a GCC-ID to be a blood donor. If you are on a visit visa & transit visa to the UAE, then you are not eligible to give blood as per Federal Health Regulation.
If you are donating for any specific patients, then you need to provide a request form from the treating physician.

Minimum weight for 18-21 is 50 Kg, 21+ years old must weight over 55 kg.

Whole Blood:
Whole blood (WB) donation is the most common form of blood donation, in which a person donates one unit (450ml) of blood.
Platelets:
Platelet donation involves the extraction of platelets from your blood to help patients with clotting disorders, cancer, and other medical conditions. Additional eligibility criteria will be evaluated during the screening process.
Double Red Blood Cells:
Double red blood cell donation collects only red blood cells while returning other blood components to the body. This process is particularly beneficial for patients with severe anemia, who are undergoing surgery, or who have experienced trauma. Additional eligibility criteria will be evaluated during the screening process.
Upon your first donation, all donors will receive an electronic card. With each donation, this card will be upgraded to reflect your invaluable contributions.
